Computer Science Students Present Research, Place in Programming Competition

CONWAY, Ark. (April 27, 2018) – Four Hendrix College students attended the 16th annual - Mid-South Conference April 6-7, 2018, at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn.

Three of the students delivered oral presentations about their research. Eric Huynh ’18 presented “Using ORB Features as Instance Representations of Neighbor-Based Machine Learning Algorithms.” Anna Holmes ’18 presented “Randomly Generating, Simulating, and Programmatically Evaluating Card Games.” Bosco Ndemeye ’18 presented “A Bi-Directional GUI for Manipulating Diagrams.”

In addition to these research presentations, the team of Kate Sanders ’20, Holmes, and Huynh won second place in the programming competition.

The students were accompanied by Computer Science faculty members Dr. Mark Goadrich, Dr. Brent Yorgey, and Dr. Gabriel Ferrer, chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
